Announcement: Garden Festival & Booth Applications

Hello everyone! You might have seen some mentions of the Garden Festival before, but here's the official announcement --

![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-community.gif)
(If you go to that comm, though, it's just a sad and empty place for now, because we're not done setting up yet!)
So what's the Garden Festival? It's basically an excuse to throw a party :D Well, in all seriousness, it's actually so that non-members get a chance to see what it's like in

Even better; if you've participated and decided that hey, it's a pretty fun thing, maybe I wanna join; you'll get to keep all of the prizes that you've won (in the form of game points)!
And for our current members, the Garden Festival is also a chance for you to run activities!

If you don't have an idea but want to help out anyway, you can brainstorm on other suggestions and fill out a booth application later. If you just want to help out on someone else's booth, there's a helper application you can fill out and post as a reply to an existing booth application.
Booth Application Form
Helper Application Form
What's the reward for running booths? YOU GET GIL! Yes, shiny gil. Because of this, however, there'll be a limit to the number of booths that are gonna be held, just so that we don't overcrowd. We'll get back to you on the limit as soon as we see how many people are applying.
Schedule
Applications will be closed on July 15th. From July 16th to July 31st, all booth owners will be setting up their booths over at our events community. Then, we'll open the festival on the 1st of August.
Let's get those applications up and running!

Meanwhile, since it mentions invites... Can we join the community anyway? Or will those not be accepted since it would allow people to post topics?

BOOTH SUGGESTIONS
Re: BOOTH SUGGESTIONS
It's kind of like a scratch-card. The user gets to choose which ones to scratch off and if they get three right, they win. I also had another type, where you scratch until you win, basically.
Anyway, I don't know about prizes. All I listed was gil and cards. That's a pretty bad prize set. If you want all gil, then the first method would work better.
Let me know if this sounds feasible, and I'll link you to the post I made about it.
Re: BOOTH SUGGESTIONS
Uh, there are seven bottles that all look alike; 6 potions and 1 elixir. The Magic Pot demands elixir. Pick and watch out? :D

Class: MONK!
Booth Name: FF_LAND BATTLE ARENA! *trumpet noises*
Booth Info: Sign up, pick a team of three, and get ready to duel!
Proposed Layout/Setup: Rules are pretty simple, you control a team of three characters of any job class (there are six... all of the ones we use for ff_land xD), and you fight a turn-based battle via comments with another person.
Prizes/Participation: maybe 50 points to win a duel, or less, depending on the difficulty.
On a scale of 1 to 5 (1 being easy and 5 being difficult), how much work do you think will go into maintaining this booth?: Um, 3, maybe ... there's a bit of calculation involved.
If you answered 4 or 5 to the above question, would you want a helper to help you out?: I only put a 3, but I'd welcome a helper!

Class: Team Let Our Tall Hats Distract You While You Catch on Fire~
Booth Name: Trading FF Characters (Or Just "Trading Card Booth" if you'd prefer)
Booth Info:
Simply, a trading card game. I'll create cards in advance based around the preferences here (i.e. so people will be more encouraged, I'll use characters I know individuals here like with several "duds" thrown in), and distribute them to anyone who comments at random. (Right now, I'm assuming it will be five cards per person, although they can have more or less if they trade, say, two cards to someone in exchange for one.) Everyone can have their own thread within the booth listing their cards, and another for trading. As for why people will be encouraged to trade and not just give people cards they know the other will like... I'll list that in prizes below.
Proposed Layout/Setup:
Ah, I accidentally mentioned the threads above. If any additional information is needed, let me know.
Prizes/Participation:
Either before the start or on the first day (depending on how the garden festival will be run), people can make a screened list of the cards they want. (I'll provide a list of cards in advance) The people who get the most on their list, win gil. You also get to keep the cards you win, but... since it's all digital, I guess that doesn't matter. XD I could put their usernames/names on their cards if they want to keep them at the end? Or attempt to make shiny graphics with all their cards?
Also, so people don't predict all dud cards just to win more points, there will only be one or two characters for those... they'll just in a higher amount. (I.e. "Another Water Energy Card? D:")
On a scale of 1 to 5 (1 being easy and 5 being difficult), how much work do you think will go into maintaining this booth?:
Hm, 3? The actual maintaining during game will be easy, but the card creating may take awhile...
If you answered 4 or 5 to the above question, would you want a helper to help you out?:
It isn't necessary, especially since it's between the time when all my classes end and school starts up again... So I imagine I'll have plenty of freetime. XD

Name: Yin and Breyzy of
Class: White Mage (Yin) and Soldier (Breyzy)
Booth Name: Speciality Job Class Rating Booth
Booth Info: Everyone has been sorted into Job Class Categories over at
Proposed Layout/Setup: Our booth would be set up with a general information section, guidelines for applying (such as being sure to vote on others who are also applying, etc.), a rating application...and perhaps a list of the jobs being considered for the rating itself (or a link to a wiki page for them, lolz). There would also be a stamped list for when members were stamped with a Job Class so others could see which job they were sorted into. Members would be encouraged to either post their application in a public entry on their own LJ and linking to it in a comment to the booth, or, if they felt more comfortable doing so, posting the entry in a comment itself...either way would work. Then others would vote on them from there! When a certain number for a majority is reached (probably five votes or perhaps more depending on how active the activity is)...that person will be announced stamped with the job profession others felt fit them the best.
Prizes/Participation: A shiny, shiny personalized stamp for each person who participates will be the main reward! ♥ But gil and points could be given depending on voting participation before a person is stamped and after...and perhaps some could also be given for applying as well. Not sure of how much would be a good amount for those yet. XD
On a scale of 1 to 5 (1 being easy and 5 being difficult), how much work do you think will go into maintaining this booth?: ...With two of us and a potential other helper? 2 or 3 maybe, depending on how active the booth is or how inactive it could get (as either one presents some amount of challenge). Still, it would be fairly manageable with both of us there to help out. :D
If you answered 4 or 5 to the above question, would you want a helper to help you out?: N/A...though helpers could be pretty nice too, it just depends on where you feel they are needed more! :D

If you answered 4 or 5 to the above question, would you want a helper to help you out?: I - okay, I'll get back to you about that one once we get a better idea of how busy it is? I think a helper might confuse things if there isn't that much to cover and we end up getting in each other's way instead.

Give a few reasons saying how you could help out, assuming you've already read the booth application. I am Mysti's brain-twin, and thus we (should) work well together, so I won't get in her way? And she works too hard. And I'm used to being told what to do? I dunno, I can pretty much be her lackey, it's all good.

Booth Info: Submit a bingo card and then a game will be run at the end. Points for participating and points for getting bingo.
Proposed Layout/Setup: There will be a card submission post (which will most likely contain a poll of possible bingo times to figure out what works best for people) and then later on, at bingo time, I'll have to make a separate post in
Prizes/Participation: Bingo standard (10 points for submitting a card; 15 points for a bingo; 30-60 points for getting first bingos)

STEALPROCURE REALLY FANCY ONES FOR THE REALLY FANCY FESTIVAL, YOU KNOW. D:Proposed Layout/Setup: Depends on what the prizes are, but I'm thinking of having 3-4 different "categories", each one with 10 cards or something. People can pick which card they want, and it'll be first come first serve, maximum one per person. It'll run pretty much like how the previous Chocobo Hot 'n' Cold minigame did, except with a smaller area, and a wider field of kwehing, so hopefully people will find it easier.
Prizes/Participation: I'm not sure... I really would rather give out "item" treasures, but I haven't figured out how yet. I'll keep thinking on that.
On a scale of 1 to 5 (1 being easy and 5 being difficult), how much work do you think will go into maintaining this booth?: 3-4...?

Booth Name: Chocobo Races!
Booth Info: After all that time breeding and
fattening them upfeeding them ghysal greens, it's about time we put these birds to good use! Nothing like some good old fashioned gambling on the chocobo races to try to earn some fat loot!Proposed Layout/Setup: I'll take bets for a day, then run 6 races the next day, altering on and off for duration of the festival.
I will take 3 different types of bets:
Win - Pick the winning horse for one race
Trifecta - Pick the horses in the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place for one race
Pick Six - Pick the winning horse in all 6 races.
I will use randomly generated results for the chocobos(6 chocobos per race) to determine the winners.
Prizes/Participation: You start off betting with nothing (essentially the house gives you 1 point to start), but as long as you have points, you can choose how many to wager (you will never be broke, I will always allow wagers of 1 point). The rates will ALWAYS, no matter what the odds, result in a set ratio payoff. A "Win" gives you 6x's what you bet. A Trifecta gives you 120x's what you bet. And Pick Six will always have a pot of 10,000-15,000 (or more? I don't know what to set it at). The pot will be split among everyone with the highest number of matching wins.
On a scale of 1 to 5 (1 being easy and 5 being difficult), how much work do you think will go into maintaining this booth?: 3 or 4
If you answered 4 or 5 to the above question, would you want a helper to help you out?: If anyone wants to, I'd be happy to split up the work, but I can probably get it all done.

LET'S MAKE IT OFFICIAL OKAY (yes, you're lucky, because D + coffee + night = hyperactivity I guess)
Name: D
Class: Dragoon
Booth Name: Scratch Cards
Booth Info: People pick certain spots on the card and "scratch" them, and if they match, they win. Namingway is wild.
Proposed Layout/Setup:I will now link you to my horribly messy thread I kept secret that one time:
http://tin-reality.livejournal.com/10644.html
Prizes/Participation: Prizes are what's on the card. How much they win is anywhere from 0-50 gil and 2 points participation per card. Cards might be charged, if I have two sets. If not, there's no charge.
On a scale of 1 to 5 (1 being easy and 5 being difficult), how much work do you think will go into maintaining this booth?: It's very easy, so, 1, but it involves pre-planning to run smoothly. there may be a card limit, depending on how quickly I can get to everyone's comments.
If you answered 4 or 5 to the above question, would you want a helper to help you out?: Blah blah blah, I said 1.
Re: LET'S MAKE IT OFFICIAL OKAY (yes, you're lucky, because D + coffee + night = hyperactivity I gue
Okay, prizes are points and gil is for participation, and while I like the idea of being able to buy two different versions of a card, that would require people to keep track of their gil...

Class: Thief
Booth Name: Magic Pot Game
Booth Info: "Magic Pot is hungers, wants yummy elixir!" Can you find the elixir hidden among the potions? If yes, yay! You win things! If no, maybe you can substitute as a tasty treat (or, you know, just not win anything).
Proposed Layout/Setup: There will be 10 Magic Pots. Each Pot will come with 7 Bottles. 1 out of the 7 Bottles will contain an Elixir, while the other 6 will contain Potions. The aim is to guess which Bottle contains the Elixir (and "feed" it to the Magic Pot). Each Pot will only be open to one person at a time (so in the rules it'll say "Please don't comment in a Pot Thread until the previous person is done speaking with the Pot"). This is because the Elixir will reset after each series of guesses. Each player will be able to guess a maximum of 3 guesses per Pot and can guess in a maximum of 3 Pot Threads.
Prizes/Participation: If a person gets the Elixir on their 1st guess, they will get 30 points. If they get it right on their 2nd guess, they'll win 20 points. If they get it right on their 3rd guess, they'll get 10 points. Thus, people can potentially win a maximum of 90 points.
On a scale of 1 to 5 (1 being easy and 5 being difficult), how much work do you think will go into maintaining this booth?: 3-4
If you answered 4 or 5 to the above question, would you want a helper to help you out?: No thanks. :)
BOOTH EXAMINER

Name: Michelle
Class: Dragoon :-)
Booth Name: Hunter's Guild!
Booth Info: Hunt dangerous marks and climb through the ranks! Not only will you get bragging rights, but there's also gil to be earned. What more can you ask for?
Proposed Layout/Setup: Basically, there will be marks posted throughout the entire festival (about 3 marks per week; 6 total). Once a mark is posted, participants will "hunt" the mark by picking a number from 1-4. Each number corresponds to a different outcome: win, flee, draw, or loose. Regardless of the outcome, the participant receives guild points (also known as clan points) along with participation points and gil. With enough clan points, the player can rank up. However, those who successfully defeat the enemy will automatically rank up and receive extra participation points and gil.
Prizes/Participation: Each participant gains 10 participation points and 100 gil, regardless of the outcome of the hunt. Those who successfully complete the hunt will receive 20 participation points and 200 gil. The clan points I mentioned earlier are separate from the participation points. It is only used in the guild to help those who weren't successful in the hunt to rank up. Each unsuccessful hunt is worth 5 clan points and each player ranks up at 10 clan points. Those who are successful in the hunt automatically rank up, so they do not get any clan points. Participants will also get a mini banner for every time they achieve a new rank. Last but not least, those who successfully reach the highest rank will receive a customized banner for their incredible luck and skill ;-)
On a scale of 1 to 5 (1 being easy and 5 being difficult), how much work do you think will go into maintaining this booth?: About 3 or 4
If you answered 4 or 5 to the above question, would you want a helper to help you out?: I wouldn't mind if I have helpers :-)
