Announcement: Garden Festival & Booth Applications

Hello everyone! You might have seen some mentions of the Garden Festival before, but here's the official announcement -- [livejournal.com profile] ff_land's first ever Garden Festival will be held from August 1st to August 15th at our shiny new events community, [livejournal.com profile] ff_eventsquare!

(If you go to that comm, though, it's just a sad and empty place for now, because we're not done setting up yet!)

So what's the Garden Festival? It's basically an excuse to throw a party :D Well, in all seriousness, it's actually so that non-members get a chance to see what it's like in [livejournal.com profile] ff_land. Right now the only public communities are [livejournal.com profile] ff_land, [livejournal.com profile] ff_classchange, and [livejournal.com profile] moogle_workshop. But for 15 days, there'll be tons of activities and games running, and everyone is welcome to participate, especially non-members!

Even better; if you've participated and decided that hey, it's a pretty fun thing, maybe I wanna join; you'll get to keep all of the prizes that you've won (in the form of game points)!

And for our current members, the Garden Festival is also a chance for you to run activities!

[livejournal.com profile] lightofeilia mentioned the booth system earlier in a post over at [livejournal.com profile] airship_lounge, but basically the gist of it is that these activities and games mentioned above will be held in the form of booths/stalls, kind of like at a carnival. So if you have an idea for a booth and want to run it, you can apply at this post. There's also a suggestion thread in the comments if you have an idea but don't particularly want to run a booth.

If you don't have an idea but want to help out anyway, you can brainstorm on other suggestions and fill out a booth application later. If you just want to help out on someone else's booth, there's a helper application you can fill out and post as a reply to an existing booth application.

What's the reward for running booths? YOU GET GIL! Yes, shiny gil. Because of this, however, there'll be a limit to the number of booths that are gonna be held, just so that we don't overcrowd. We'll get back to you on the limit as soon as we see how many people are applying.

Schedule
Applications will be closed on July 15th. From July 16th to July 31st, all booth owners will be setting up their booths over at our events community. Then, we'll open the festival on the 1st of August.

Let's get those applications up and running!

Note: The events in [livejournal.com profile] ff_eventsquare will be public, so you do not need to join it in order to participate in the Garden Festival. The only people that will be invited to it are those running a stand.

Booth application
Name: Ari
Class: Thiefieberry
Booth Name: Crazy Stampeding Chocobos Minigame Chocobo Hot 'n' Cold
Booth Info: (Stampede some chocobos, Eilia, or stampede on them, or stampede while on them, or? *shot*) DIG UP TREASURE! LOTS OF TREASURE! Actually, a limited supply of treasure. I HAVE TO STEAL PROCURE REALLY FANCY ONES FOR THE REALLY FANCY FESTIVAL, YOU KNOW. D:
Proposed Layout/Setup: Depends on what the prizes are, but I'm thinking of having 3-4 different "categories", each one with 10 cards or something. People can pick which card they want, and it'll be first come first serve, maximum one per person. It'll run pretty much like how the previous Chocobo Hot 'n' Cold minigame did, except with a smaller area, and a wider field of kwehing, so hopefully people will find it easier.
Prizes/Participation: I'm not sure... I really would rather give out "item" treasures, but I haven't figured out how yet. I'll keep thinking on that.
On a scale of 1 to 5 (1 being easy and 5 being difficult), how much work do you think will go into maintaining this booth?: 3-4...?
If you answered 4 or 5 to the above question, would you want a helper to help you out?: I'm... not sure. If anyone wants to, I guess.

I think you can give out item treasures that people can keep, but assign a rarity so that if they dig up a rare item they get game points as well? Just an idea. :D

Otherwise, YAY CHOCOBO HOT AND COLD

*nods* I'll probably assign a similar point value as I did for the first game's CHNC. But. I dunno what kind of items to give. What would be the point of letting them keep a random potion? XD;

You could do the drawing thing you wanted to do. Simple graphics? We can recruit people to draw stuff for the game?

We can give... things to them for helping to draw............................

[identity profile] arivess.livejournal.com 2011-07-11 08:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Hmm. Yeah. I guess maybe one of the prize set can be drawings and maybe one set can be chibis? And then maybe one set can be cards for Drowny's eventual game, and/or a set for Vanja's game here. And maybe some items for my battle thing, but I think I'm going to have to delay that until next game.

[identity profile] lightofeilia.livejournal.com 2011-07-11 08:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Yup! Maybe not Drowny's card game though, I think we're introducing that next game as well. Vanja's card game you should talk to her about, I think she's making the cards themselves.

*nods* I'll ask Vanja, then.
