Community Feedback/Suggestions Part I
COMMUNITY FEEDBACK PART I
(ff_classchange & ff_land)
(ff_classchange & ff_land)
Here's how this is going to work:
- There's going to be two phases to this whole community feedback process. During the first phase, I'll have you fill out general polls asking you to rate various aspects of the comm and make suggestions. During the second phase, I will collect all reasonable/feasible ideas that were suggested and put them to a vote.
- This series of posts are part of the first phase. The polls here are to help give me a general idea of how the comm is going, but mostly they're here to to jog your memory on various aspects of the comm that might need improvement. You're encouraged to make suggestions in the comments as you think of them and to respond to other people's suggestions.
- Comments are unscreened. However, anonymous commenting is allowed in case you're uncomfortable voicing your opinions with your name attached.
- Not all suggestions will go on to be voted on in the second phase. Some suggestions will be rejected without vote and some suggestions will be accepted without vote, at mod discretion.
- The mods have already put some thought into community improvement. Here's a list of things we've come up with so far:
Suggestions that will be voted on in Phase 2:
- [GENERAL] Add Vagrant Story to the list of accepted FF games
- [GENERAL] Add original Kingdom Hearts characters (e.g. Sora, Terra, Organization XIII, etc.) to the list of accepted FF games
- [GENERAL] Use (different) alliances again in Game 2, or switch to individual teams
Suggestions that will be implemented without vote:
- [GENERAL] Track & reward member participation with a fanworks incentive system
- [FANWORKS] Allow people to set up "shops" as part of the above
- [FANWORKS] Rework the
moogle_workshop fanart scale
- [SORTING] Remove the leader/supporter dichotomy from the app as it's made redundant by question 4
- All suggestions (here and in the comments) are open to debate, so if you want to make an argument for or against an idea, you are encouraged to do so.
Onto the polls!
[Poll #1737741]
Polls/suggestion box will be open until Saturday May 21
If you need to change your vote, click on the "Poll #______" link at the top of the poll, then [ Fill out Poll ], then change your answers and resubmit.

Er. IDK what else. Best friend gets kidnapped by the villain? You get temporarily separated from your party? IDK. XD (these are all totally random.)

I had a vague question on decision-making that I was considering putting on the restamping app -- maybe we could instead have a more concrete decision-making scenario. Like... uhhhh... you get offered a job that sounds promising and exciting, but it will require you to move to a different country... What do you do?
Or... there are two members of your party that clearly don't get along and are ruining things for everyone else. How do you handle that?
I'll keep brainstorming...

This one might actually work very well, since part of the landcomm is about teamwork.

Anyhow, instead of asking, "How are you at leading?", you could always say, "Given a choice, what kind of role do you prefer to take on a team? Eg leader, supportive, finishing, planning..." that way the response might be a bit more natural and informative.
I like the two members not getting along question!
-You're given: the ability to attack enemies, OR the ability to defend your allies. What ability would you choose? Give reasoning.
-The traditional 'lost property' question - you find a hundred dollar note on the ground, what do you do?
-Could always try a 'prisoner's dilemma' type question. You and your party have been arrested for stealing an artifact. You are guilty.
You are given the choice - confess your involvement, rat on your team mates, and receive a much reduced sentence, or hold out and plead not-guilty, because the evidence is shaky. But if you do, and your other team members DO confess and rat on you, then you will receive a very heavy penalty. How do you choose what to do? Do you take the bargain, or do you hold out hope you can thwart the authorities?

Oh gosh, I remember the 'push the button and your friend gets killed' variant of that. Unfortunately, this now means I want to quote completely irrelevant Baldur's Gate II lines. "BUTTONS ARE NOT HOW ONE ESCAPES CAGES!"
But I'm slightly against prisoner's dilemma because it involves ratting on your team mates and, you know, team game. Probably isn't going to help team cohesion, even though it's all in fun. XD

I totally had the same qualms, to be honestno subject
"Then here is my hypothetical question: You and your sibling are captured and locked in separate cells, unable to communicate. The mage responsible appears and speaks.
He explains his sadistic game: In each cell there is a magical button. If you press your button and your sibling does not, you will die but your sibling is free.
If your sibling presses the button and you do not, they will die but you will go free. If neither you nor your sibling press the buttons, both of you will die.
If both of you press your respective buttons, both of you will die. The Mage says that you have one turn of the hourglass to decide your action, then he leaves."
One of your party members doesn't see the point of the question and announces, and I quote, "This is silly! Buttons are not how one escapes dungeons! I would smash the button and rain beatings liberally down on the wizard for playing such a trick!"
I would totally say that (with strikethroughs) just to see if anyone recognised it and, well, just for giggles.

Hm, that scenario question comment sounds a little familiar. Some questions I've found are helpful with sorting are things like:
Do you prefer to be in the front lines, in the back supporting, or a little of both?
The victory fanfare cues! What's your victory pose like?
What's one trait you admire most in other people?
It turns out you have the ability and the chance to save the world from a catastrophe. Would you honestly do it?
Let's say you decide to save the world. What are your reasons, and would you gather a team to help you or do it alone?
Since you saved the world from doom, it's landed you in a position of power. (Congrats you're now King/Queen of the world!) What do you intend to do with this power?
Apparently someone really hates what you're doing and it seems they want you dead. They have the plans in place to see this through. What are you going to do about it?
And to do some specific copy pasta, I think this shows an interesting look at someones preferences and the like.
How do you feel about:
...using charm/confusion/distraction to your party's advantage?
...utilizing stealth to gain the upper hand?
...being able to call a non-human companion to your aid?
...inventing/creating things on the spot to help your teammates out?
...using music/creativity as your weapon?
...specializing in abilities that nullify attacks and lower enemy stats?
...copying others' abilities at the cost that they are not as a strong?
...letting Lady Luck be your guide in battle?
...sacrificing your own health to perform stronger attacks?
...making your primary duty to protect your allies, even risking being a human shield?
Now obviously that's a little extensive for our class system, but I think it'd be interesting to have some questions that are specifically about how the applicant views the class abilities/classes.
