Thank you for the suggestions. I must say, though, that regardless of which comm organization is better, I think it's a bit late to reorganize. XD BUT I will try to explain why I organized the communities in this way, and maybe convince you that we'll be able to make this system work.

I wanted different communities to have very different kind of activities, and I wanted people to be able to watch or un-watch communities based on their interests. For example, if you're not really interested in seeing fanwork contests, you may un-watch ultima_arena. Or if you don't like the fast-paced small activities of ff_minigames, you can un-watch that. But obviously I don't really want people to un-watch the main community which has important announcements. That's why those three communities which would really be one in a normal landcomm, are three.

I wasn't sure where people would be coming from in the Final Fantasy fandom, so that's why I separated traditionally land comm-ish activities into ff_minigames and put more regular contest activities into ultima_arena.

This setup also has the added benefit of allowing the minigames mod to still participate in contests and vice versa (I mean, we don't have a contest mod but if we did, they'd be able to participate in screened-comment minigames).

My intention was that it would be a very rare person who's able to participate in every activity consistently. I wanted there to be a lot going on for different tastes, and not participating in everything is completely okay.

I know this idea is rather ambitious, but I also know it can work because I've seen it work before in a landcomm I participate in (it's not strictly a landcomm but very similar). I realize it can be jarring coming from a straight-up landcomm to this. Don't worry about giving feedback, I appreciate that you've already put time and thought into this community, and reading this comment made me realize where there needs to be more organization. I'm trying to eliminate all the major sources of chaos right now, so give me a bit more time, and then we can re-evaluate the system?

Yep, that's exactly it -- individual members do what they're strong in and what interests them. Having a diverse/well-rounded team is important too. :)

And... yeah you have a good point. I didn't think about the reminders. At westerosorting, they don't really have small, frequent activities other than sorting, so I can see that having to do reminders for ff_minigames might irritate people who don't have an interest there... :S But my team mod would often post a weekly reminder for sorting about 24 hours before the apps were going to be stamped, and that didn't really seem to bother people, so I hope it'll be the same way. Maybe you could have two reminder posts a week -- one for stamping/minigames and the other for minigames/contests. That way if someone doesn't like one type of activity they can do the other?

I hope I didn't sound over-defensive in my reply, by the way. I really appreciate the feedback and having thought about it, it might have been better to combine ff_land, ultima_arena, and ff_minigames... But I hope we can make this work too. :)

And yeah, I just want mods to be comfortable posting at judge_magisters. I know it's only been me posting so far, but it's for all the mods to use, including team mods.
