Truthfully, I kind of feel the same way sometimes. I think certain job classes seem more geared towards certain word choices than others based on how people interpret more well-known characters in them: for instance, both Soldier and Dragoon tend to be associated with "gloomy" at times because of characters like Kain, Squall, and Cloud despite how not every character in those job classes *are* "gloomy" (Zack, Fang, and Cid for instance)...and White Mages often get associated with "introverted" or "shy" because Yuna is a very familiar character to most FF fans (though not all White Mage characters are necessarily introverted or shy). Thieves do seem to be associated a lot with optimism and cheerful-ness in the voting too, and Black Mages are often associated with logical/thinking as well...though there are other job classes that could also possibly fit for those categories too that sometimes are overlooked in terms of voting due to character association and the like. I'm not entirely sure how to change that though, because I do feel like the word choices are helpful at times too...but I do agree with your assessment that it can sometimes gear voters in directions that maybe they wouldn't have perhaps thought of beforehand.

(That's also my main issue with some of the FF questions too in the sorting, truthfully. Sometimes if you mention why you like a certain character in the survey part or why you possible relate to them...it seems like it possibly skews voting towards a job class that character might be associated with at well. Again, the questions can be helpful and they are more optional in a lot of ways...so I don't know how to "correct" that either. 0_0;)
